1. How do I buy and set up my domain name?
Domain names are your online identity. I strongly recommend that you purchase your domain name, and not get a free one. If you do this, no one will ever take your blog seriously. Your name is less than $10 so don't be cheap. This is your primary identity Domain Name Registration.
Would you buy an office to start a business? The same applies here. You should also avoid free sites. This is because you won't be 100% owner of your site and you don't have any resale value so make sure you buy it.
Go Daddy is the only place I buy domains.
It is most well-known and reliable, and it is also the cheapest.
Step 1: Visit GoDaddy to purchase your domain name.
Enter the domain name that you're looking for to check its availability
Click Add if your domain name is available. You will then see your shopping cart. Continue to register.
You might be interested in special offers and you can take advantage of them.
Register and follow the steps.
Step 2 Choose a hosting package that you would like to have with your domain.
You cannot buy a domain name and go live with your website. Hosting is required to store all data necessary for the website to function. A hosting package is required for this purpose.
I recommend that you also consider Go Daddy hosting.
Three reasons you might want to do so.
Reason 1 – You will receive a discount value for your domain. I purchased the Go Daddy hosting plan for $ 1.99, not $ 9.99.
Reason 2: You don't have to worry about linking your hosting plan and your domain name, as they are both from the same company. The setting up process is a simple click away.
Reason 3 - Most importantly, your hosting company must be reliable. You don't want your blog having problems due to poor hosting plans provided by unreliable companies. GoDaddy is a top-rated company and I recommend them.
You can either purchase the hosting plan with your domain registration, or add it to your existing shopping cart.
Select your plan and then proceed to the registration. Next, select your payment method. Make the payment.
Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of your website if you have followed these instructions.
Be patient! Although there is still some work to be done before your website is ready for public viewing, you can consider yourself to have laid the foundation for your blogging future.
Next, I'll discuss how to create a website and make it available online.
